Important Facts

A pharmaceutical manufacturer tasked Sartorius to help produce a mobile scale for applications in granulation production processes. The primary goal was to achieve precise measurement results for many reasons and different products.

The Application and Products Used

A high-resolution platform for close results was combined with indicators for relative counting and weighing in a clean room. The weighing solution was then combined with batteries and wheels for a flexible and mobile operation. The products used were a Combics 3 indicator with battery operations and an ISEDE64-H 64kg/0.1 g weighing platform for close and accurate measuring.

The Customer Benefits

A few of the customer benefits included precise weighing results, lower maintenance costs, batter operations for up to 24 hours, and a compact design for simple operations and space-saving.

The Project’s Goal and Implementation

For existing production facilities and due to the increasing granulation capacities, the customers needed a mobile scale designed explicitly for clean areas that are used for weighing semi-finished products, waste, and more. The focus was on higher precision scales since the customer wanted to cover an extensive range of products, from single tablets and whole batches. For this demand, the partner combined a Minebea Intec scale consisting of a Combics 3 indicator and an IS64EDE-H platform that uses the EMFC technology with a resolution of 0.1g to ensure accuracy throughout it all. Furthermore, the unit has a wide range of applications, making it both future-proof and flexible. To make sure there was high precision weighing, the mobile scale was equipped with leveling legs and locking casters. The integrated batters help ensure the operating hours of the portable scale for about 24 hours in any heavy-duty environment. The most significant advantage of this solution was the space-saving factor and reduced service and maintenance costs since the mobile scale could substitute multiple floor scales. The design of the portable scale was made user-oriented, so the operator has simple and easy access to each part of the equipment and can change it quickly.
